The Rexel Foundation and the Collectif des Possibles join forces in the fight against fuel poverty in Roubaix
In 2018, the Rexel Foundation launched a project in Roubaix, in the north of France, bringing together residents, local stakeholders and experts to brainstorm and put forward a solution to help people out of fuel poverty. With the right means in place thanks to the Foundation, this led to the creation of a collective ready and willing to fight fuel poverty: the Collectif des Possibles. This innovative project is developing slowly but surely. One of the solutions it already offers focuses on providing individualized support to people through the different stages of the renovation of their homes. This includes, helping people to complete paperwork, select contractors, and manage their renovations through to completion. To make this happen, the Collectif des Possibles relies on the support of local authorities, associations, foundations, private companies, independent contractors, Rexel employees, social entrepreneurs, start-ups, students, and local volunteers. The project and its methodology have been documented in a handbook and all the resources used, have been made freely available on the Rexel Foundation website in order to have the greatest social impact possible.
Bertrand de Clermont Tonnerre, Group Sustainable Development Director and General Secretary for the Rexel Foundation, discusses the Roubaix project:
This pilot project will be deployed in other locations which register an interest.
